I have an iPAQ Classic 111 (Windows Mobile 6) using WMDC version 6.1.6965.0 running on Windows Vista

When I connect my iPAQ and open WMDC, it acts like it freezes while trying to connect and after a minute or 2 it finally connects and I am able to sync.

Then, when I click on "File Management" and "Browse the contents of your device", I immediately get this error:

Driver failed to load in the time allotted.

I can continue or quit. Continue leaves the application open and quit closes it.

Also, when I open "My Computer" my iPAQ doesn't show up, nor do I get an autoplay popup when I connect to allow me to view device contents, sync music, view Flash card contents, etc.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Nathan

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system>
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

i am having the exact issues with my HTC TILT including the 'freezing' and connection time issues. I had no problems in vista until after using the device in Windows 7 where i can browse the device without a problem. Please note that i have not setup a sync partnership in Windows 7.

EDIT

i uninstalled windows mobile device manager and windows mobile device manager update and then reinstalled and the issues seem to be gone...[/u]

Hi,
Thanks for the update. Sometimes there are issues related to the installation order of software. You need to install WMDC after you install Office or Outlook in order to sync. WMDC adjusts to the version of Outlook you are synchronizing with.
