Hi,

I'm a newbie and, perhaps, not a good candidate for my HP iPAY 111. I recently purchase the unit used via eBay. I assumed that when I was in a known WiFi area, the unit would automatically connect provided I enabled the Wifi functions.

Clarely this is not the case. I go through the user manual and it describes a variety of sttings but there is nothing to indicate that it is Wifi "ready" as is my HP Pavillion.

Clearly, I am not understanding the fundaments of initial setup for WiFi reception. The spec shows that it will work with 801b/g protocols but I've had not luck.

Any suggestions as to a starting point form me. The screen message keeps asking for the modem type. I was under the impression that a seapate modem was not required for connectity.

Does it appear that I have completely mis-judge the units capabilities?

Many thanks. Crying or Very sad

Hi,
So here's the basics:
1. The Wi-Fi must be manually turned on or off. This is done in the Connection Manager.
2. When the Wi-Fi is on, it should prompt you with a bubble at the bottom that asks you if you want to connect to the Wi-Fi network. If you say yes, it will attempt to build the connection.
3. If the network is secured then it will prompt you for the security key.
4. In some cases, you may have a large number of networks available. So you will need to go into the Connections and use the Wi-Fi application there to list the networks and select the one you want to connect to.

Don't forget to turn the Wi-Fi off - it will drain your battery pretty fast!
