I run my own web server at home. Apparently this is not common. This means from the general internet my server, defaria.com's IP address is 65.101.22.21. However from my local LAN at home it's 192.168.1.103.

For the PCs at my house I simply make a hosts file that says defaria.com -> 192.168.1.103 and everything is fine. When I'm at work, outside my local LAN, DNS resolves defaria.com -> 65.101.22.21.

Now comes my new WM 6.1 phone. I configured my email to come from my server, defaria.com. Now when I go through external networking like through the Sprint network, defaria.com resolves -> 65.101.22.21 and email is retrieved without a problem.

However when I connect to my own WiFi, defaria.com still resolves to 65.101.22.21 and things are *not* good. Email fails and when I browse to my domain I see my router page instead of my home page.

I want to configure the mapping of defaria.com -> 192.168.1.103 IFF I'm using my own WiFi. Is there a way to configure this?

Hi,
You can't do this the way you want. Why? Because Windows Mobile caches the name to IP address. I suggest that you use a separate name for the internal sites versus the external sites.

To clear the cache, you have to perform a soft reset.

You mean like defaria.com and defaria2.com? If so then that's totally stupid! How would that work in the context of emails then? I'd have to set up two accounts, one for when I'm connected internally and one for when I'm external?!?

There is a registry equivalent to /etc/hosts but the problem is that that is global and not per network. If it were then that would be my simple solution.

Hi,
No. I am referring to the resolution of the name defaria.com in the internal IP is differnet than the external IP.

If they resolve to different IPs internally and another externally this will cause problems.
