I have a new iPaq 111 running Windows Mobile 6. I am frustrated to find that an extra space always appears at the beginning of any data or formula I enter in Excel. The result is that formulas are entered as text unless I go back and delete the space. This did not occur on my old PDA with older software. Is this normal and intentional? Is there any way around it?

Thanks

Hi,

Is this happening to your existing spreadsheets or any new spreadsheet you create? According to my opinion, it could be due to a macro running in the background. Can you do a check for running macros? There is no reason why a space should be suffixed to your formulas automatically.

I don't think this is a excel bug.

Cheers

Hi,
Are you using the soft input panel (on the screen)? It could be from the system attempting to assist you with hits on partial typing.

Sorry I dropped this for a while. I had other issues with the iPaq and sent it back. I just received a replacement a couple of days ago, but it does the same thing.

To answer your questions, it does this with new and existing spreadsheets. I didn't even know you could run macros in Excel Mobile and I don't know how to check for that.

And this occurs when using Transcriber, which is my preferred input method, so I'm writing directly on the screen, no input panel. It doesn't happen when using Keyboard entry.

The fact that this replacement unit still does this leads me to believe that either the company sent back the original unit, or else this is a programming bug that is always there.

Other ideas?

Thanks
