Firstly I would point out that until my XP machine died on me last week the Ipaq and Activ Sync worked like a dream. Then the XP machine died and a new Vista Acer PC was bought. That’s when everything didn’t work/
Regarding WMDC not working. When it opens up I click on the only option in the Mobile Device settings box, namely Connection setting. Clicking on ‘connection setting’ always make WMDC come back with the error message – WMDC has stopped working..............A problem caused the program to stop working correctly, Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available’
Now I have been trying to connect my 6515 to WMDC for 10 days now. Once, yesterday WMDC centre did find the Ipaq and set up a partnership and syncd. This is the only time out of maybe 150 attempts and resets etc. Then after undocking the Ipaq, WMDC would not see it and that’s how we are now. Also about 3 times over the 10days using Windows Explorer it has been possible to navigate to the files on the Ipaq but not to Sync at the same time.
Today I did the following
I uninstalled the Ipaq USB in Device Manager
I uninstalled WMDC and its Update
I did a fresh install of WMDC
I rebooted the PC
I put the Ipaq into the cradle
The PC said it was installing devices and then said HP Ipaq Hub installed successfully
WMDC did not activate automatically (like ActivSync did on the old XP machine)
I launched WMDC. It says not connected.
I took out the Ipaq and then recradled it. It went through all the motions of connecting saying Connecting to Host and then User Authenticated.
On the Ipaq I launched ActivSync
This says ‘Connected’ but when I press the SYNC button it then changes to Not Connected.
Needless to say, on the PC nothing happens and even in Windows Explorer the PC cannot see the Ipaq at all.
I have also tried the usual stuff like changing the USB port that the Ipaq connect to the PC and blowing air into the Ipaq cradle and the Ipaq socket just in case of dust or debris.
