Hi , I have installed ActiveSync 4.5 and when I try to connect to a PDA I get the following error:

WCESMgr.exe - Entry point not found
The procedureentrypoint_except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll

Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

Thanks

Harry

Hi,
Did you try reinstalling ActiveSync?
Did you install an app that replaced MSVCRT.DLL?

Thanks Chris for the reply,

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling ActiveSync but still the same problem.

I have an installer which installs the following:
ProgramName.exe - my windows application
OpenNETCF.Desktop.Communication.dll - Used for downloading files from PDA
sharpPDF.dll - Used by my application to create PDF files

I always built my installer using Installshield 2008 but this time I have build it with InstallShield 2009 evaluation version as I no longer have a licence (I will get one in the next few months but for now all I have is the evaluation version ) The installer is the same.
I did notice that when I tried to install my program when ActiveSync was already open I got the error message:
"The following programs are running that include files that need to be updated by this setup, please close these programs and click Retry to continue" - The program that is listed is ActiveSync.

So this indicated that certain Activesync files are overwritten by the installer.

The only difference between before and now is that I am using a different version of InstallShield.

Where can I find MSVCRT.DLL and can I simply replace it with one that works?

Thanks

Harry

I see MSVCRT.DLL in C:\Windows\System32 but it has a date of 4/8/2004 which means that this dll has not been overwritten by a recent 'broken' one since the date on my computer is 21/10/2008.

Any thoughts...

Harry
