Well, done some messing with PocketPC and there are a few things I am dissapointed with...

1) No networking client.
Before I upgraded my Aero I was able to log onto my Linux boxs Samba shares... with PocketPC I can't do that anymore...

2) No printing.
What good is PocketWord if I cannot IR print to my IR enabled printer? Or send via lpr over the network?

3) Apps screw up
I use Rescos Picture Viewer for my pictures (duh?!) and every time I soft reset my device (which is more often than I'd like) the ImageViewer entry in the registry resets to the MS Picture Viewer (which is damn slow and featureless) and I have to reset it manually, which leads me on to ...

4) No registry editor.
With all the manual tweaks I have had to do I would not survive without a registry editor. How come they don't include one?

All in all I really do like PocketPC... I was a frustrated PalmIIIx user and I find that PocketPC fulfills 75 - 80% of what I need. It just stops short. WinCE2.11 had more of the functionality i need, i need networking more than PocketWord, it was just wayyyy slower.

I really don't understand why a company removes functionality from a device that worked. The networking client was there, it worked, I liked it. I want it back!

Not only will Jetsend work, but it's free! You can get it at http://www.jetsend.hp.com/JSHome.html .

I've seen the Jetsend product but admit I haven't tried it yet...

I really hope someone brings out an LPR client as it is a pain not being able to print on other networks...

I tend to visit different companies and not all of them have IR enabled printers... it would be nice not to have to rely on a specific printer type (i.e. It must be Jetsend compatible) if LPR was an option it would allow interactivity with *nix and NT networks...
